Doors: buying notes

Most replacement doors are supplied as an empty shell. The glass, regulator, lock, handles, trim and wiring all transfer from the damaged door, so the job normally goes to a panel shop.

Your checklist

• Front or rear, left or right
• Body style, and manual or powered sliding door
• Bare shell or with fittings
• Paint, plus transfer of glass, lock and trim
• Series and build range

Fitting notes

Doors only suit the body style and position they are listed for. A sedan front door will not fit the wagon, and van sliding doors change with the power sliding option. Small fittings such as check straps are also listed here by position.

Which side is which: on vehicles delivered new in Australia, the right hand side is the driver’s side and the left hand side is the passenger side.
