Intercoolers: buying notes

The intercooler cools air from the turbo before it enters the engine. Turbo diesel utes and 4WDs use either a top mount unit under a bonnet scoop or a front mount unit behind the bumper, and the two do not swap without other changes.

• Condition of hoses and clamps

Fitting notes

Oil or a split in the intercooler can point to a hose leak or a turbo fault, so inspect the hoses when you replace it.
