Condensers: buying notes

Mounted in front of the radiator, the condenser gets rid of heat from the air conditioning system. Its position makes it vulnerable to stones and front impacts, and a leak is a frequent reason the air conditioner stops cooling.

Your checklist

• Engine and build range
• Pipe fitting positions
• Receiver drier included or separate
• Refrigerant type for your model
• Licensed technician to fit and re-gas

Fitting notes

Australian rules require a licensed technician to recover the refrigerant and recharge the system, so condenser replacement is a workshop job. The receiver drier is normally renewed at the same time if it is not built into the condenser.
