Radiators: buying notes

Radiators depend on the engine and, just as much, the gearbox. Automatics usually have a transmission cooler inside the radiator tank with two extra pipe fittings that a manual radiator lacks.

• Automatic or manual
• Engine type and size
• Inlet, outlet and filler positions
• Core thickness and tank material
• Series and build range

Fitting notes

A leaking or overheated radiator can leave debris behind, so flush the system before fitting and refill with the specified coolant. Hoses and a new cap cost little compared with an overheated engine.
